Tombstone Tuesday - Memphis Merchant
Memphis Merchant 1882 - 1959 Zion Chapel A. M. E. Church Cemetery Caseyville, Lincoln County, Mississippi
Hello Cousin, Thank you for creating your Blog! The history that you have compiled is invaluable. Memphis Merchant is my great-great grandfather. I am the daughter of Charles Middleton(b 1928 Lincoln County), granddaughther of Catherine Elizabeth Merchant Mason (b 1910 Lincoln County). Let's Talk. tanmburton@bellsouth.net
Can u tell me more about the man in the pic he looks like he could be my grandfather brother . My grand father name was George Manning Merchant from Mississippi. Any info would help. Thanks
Memphis Merchant born in 1882 was the first child of my great aunt Catherine Markham Scott. Memphis was born near Caseyville, Lincoln County, Mississippi. His father's name is unknown to me. Memphis 1st married Carrie Luella Powell. Their children were: Mildred, Catherine and Memphis, Jr. Memphis 2nd wife was Lillie Smith and their children were Lillian and Robert Lee. Memphis lived in Lincoln and Copiah counties of Mississippi. He died in 1959.
Do the name Willie James Merchant ring a bell that's my father? George Merchant is his father. I know he had a family member by the name of Ellen Mae Johnson not sure if her last name was Merchant!
M.P. Merchant was my great great Grandfather my great great grandmother was name Lilly Smith (19898-1987 )she had a daughter name Lillian Merchant (1921-2011) my grandmother name is Claudette Merchant McDaniel

My maternal grandpaw was hollis case of lloyd star.I remember like it was yesterday Memp (Memphis) Merchant and his brother Tooter, workin for papaw hollis. Memp was same age of my father, born in 1932. Last account i had memp was in oakland,calif. Ihave many, many fond memories of them.

DeleteNo, the names you mentioned are not familiar to me. My Merchant family was from Lincoln County, MS. Where is your Merchant family from?
