This photograph was among the collection of my great grandmother Mary Byrd Markham of Lincoln County, MS. The woman in the photograph is unknown to cousins. She may be kin or a neighbor to my ggrandmother. I would love to know her identity.
Speaking with relatives about family history, I am often told to keep this piece of information between you, me and the gate post. Respecting sensibilities, I will share my family stories entwine with historical events from Copiah, Jefferson and Lincoln Counties, Mississippi, from gate post to gate post.

The way she looks right at the camera reminds me of an unknown woman in my grandparents album. Not so much that they look alike, but the expression. I think there may be a name on mine but only a last name. It's too bad we don't know who they are. I hope somebody does.
I believe that more than one copy exists for many photographs and am hoping a copy remains in the hands of a cousin who can identify the person. It is too bad we don't know who they are because at one time someone in the family knew them.
